Income Tax Department’s searches at two leading real estate firms have unearthed undisclosed income to the tune of Rs 169 crore.
The two entities searched by the I-T sleuths are, Gopalan Enterprises, which owns malls, and VRR builders (Vijay Raghava Reddy) in Koramangala. The investigation wing of the Income Tax Department conducted the search operations in two separate teams from December 23 to December 26.
“In the first of the cases, it was found that the group has indulged in providing and receiving accommodation entries to reduce the taxable income. They were also found to be in receipt of on money in respect of the property transactions. The disclosure in this case stands at Rs 143 crore,” a release said.
In the second cases, the assessees were found to have not disclosed income up to Rs 26 crore.
The Income Tax Department sleuths found that the group had not accounted for the sales component received in cash and had disguised the personal expenses as business expenses. It was also found that they had made unaccounted investments in gold and jewellery

suggest people to keep away projects which are charging beyond the per sq feet price + statutory charges can help to revive the RE industry ( I would like to enforce the price of the apartment based on the carper area than the super built up area).. There are huge variance when it come to super built up area to carpet area from builder to builder. In Mumbai the carpet area is enforced..
There was some litigation on this land. Don’t know the current status. I have seen a court stay pasted on the wall and then it was removed by builder.

Bangalor’s lakes are a big concern..there was a program in ndtv some days back which showed that out of the 200 lakes in and around the city few years back, the no is no 73…almost all the lakes are highly polluted…if this rate continues, all the water bodies are expected to dry up by 2020…scary ! However, some of the local citizen groups and hsg coperative societies have started adopting some of the lakes..hence, my request to all people buying expensive properties near lakes question the builder on lake conservation..or help take some initiatives in this area…probably align ourselves to some group who are already doing such work….just my thoughts…
